I really like this VW!!!! I was in Richmond Va the other day and I was talking to a guy who said he had a 52 split, wich he got in high school and restored it (many years ago) but he told me he use to take it to shows but at 1 show a guy asked if hed sell it and the guy had a sand rail, that he was intrested in so they traded the rail for the split and $4,800.00!!!!!! 
30 years later the guy still has the Sand rail, since then hes put a 2176?? in it cut it in half and extended it to a 4 seater!! pretty cool looking rail (showed me the pics) but he said hes got somewhere around 13-14,000$$ in it now!
I think I would have kept the Split (o\_/o)
